ANSWER:

A project charter is a formal, typically short document that describes your project in its entirety — including what the objectives are, how it will be carried out, and who the stakeholders are. It is a crucial ingredient in planning out the project because it is used throughout the project lifecycle.

vii.            Discuss the importance of identifying project scope?

ANSWER:

A clear project scope statement will help the project manager to manage the expectations of clients and stakeholders and to avoid common problems seen in projects such as:

                      i.            The final product/service/process is not what the client wanted or expected

                    ii.            The requirements are constantly changing throughout the project

                  iii.            Well into the project the requirements need a major re-think

                  iv.            Project costs are getting out of hand

                    v.            The project is behind schedule

viii.            What is WBS

ANSWER:

WBS, stands for Work break down structure, is a method for getting a complex, multi-step project done. It’s a way to divide and conquer large projects so you can get things done faster and more efficiently. Work breakdown structure (or WBS) is a hierarchical tree structure that outlines your project and breaks it down into smaller, more manageable portions.

ix.            What is the basic structure of Spiral Model

ANSWER:

Spiral Model consists of four phases.

i.      Planning

ii.    Risk Analysis

iii.  Engineering

iv.  Evaluation

It is a combination of Waterfall model and iterative model/. The basic advantage of spiral model is Risk evaluation and handling.

x.            Define risk mitigation?

ANSWER:

Risk mitigation is a strategy to prepare for and reduced or eliminated the effects of unacceptable threats to the project.

xi.            What are the advantages of cost benefits analysis?

ANSWER:

A good cost-benefits analysis looks at whether a project can be done and if it is worth doing. Different versions of the analysis can make decisions easier no matter the size or context. Measuring costs against benefits serves well when introducing a new product line, deciding whether to hire additional help.

xii.            COCOMO stands for?

ANSWER:

COCOMO Stands for Constructive Cost Model.

xiii.            What is the purpose of RMMM?

ANSWER:

The goal of the risk mitigation, monitoring and management plan is to identify as many potential risks as possible.  The RMMM plan documents all work executed as a part of risk analysis and used by the project manager as a part of the overall project plan.  The risk mitigation and monitoring starts after the project is started and the documentation of RMMM is completed.
